Q: What is a phono preamp? Do I need one?
A: Phono preamps provide the extra boost of amplification the output from a turntable requires. Many amplifiers have a special input for this purpose labelled ‘Phono’. If yours does not, you will need a phono preamp. You can also significantly improve the sound quality of your turntable with a higher quality phono preamp.
Q: How long will the needle on my record player last?
A: Generally you can expect around a useful life of around 1,000 hours, depending on the condition of your records.
