What will most win fans over is its class-leading performance. Those who are happy with a simple, no-fuss, purely analogue amplifier and who prioritise entertainment should arguably consider the io their number one choice.

The feature lists on modern stereo amplifiers can be quite extensive. At the affordable end of the spectrum, this ultimately has an effect on performance. Here Rega has pared down to the essentials: this is an analog-only integrated amp, small in stature, but ready to hit you with amazing fidelity. The built-in MM phono input is the perfect companion to Rega’s range of turntables (we love the Planar 3). In the io, Rega has essentially delivered a lower-powered Brio. It’s a whole lot of fun to listen to and for the price it really can’t be beat. Ultimately we think the Brio is well worth the step up, however sometimes that just isn’t possible and when it isn’t, fear not - the io is here!

Key Features

  • Phono (MM) input

  • Headphone output

  • Remote control

The Rega io features the same power amplifier and phono stage circuitry as the multi-award winning Rega Brio. A class A/B design, it features Sanken output transistors and an Alps volume control. The linear power supply allows the io to deliver 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms. It also features a headphone output for hi-fi headphone listening.

Sound Advice

  • The Rega io will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after the first 50-75 hours of use.

  • Be sure to give the amplifier some breathing room for proper ventilation.

  • We always recommend a quality speaker wire for your speakers.
