Design

As you would expect from legendary Italian artisans, the new Olympica G3 series speakers from Sonus faber are beautifully sculpted from natural materials. Cabinets are wrapped in sumptuous real-wood walnut or wenge veneers, with the chevron-like orientation of the wood grain drawing the eye around the lute-shaped cabinet. These soft lines and gentle curves meet the precision machined and sandblasted solid aluminum trim pieces in matte gray with polished 45 degree chamfers that catch the light and adding subtle highlights. Beauty and precision in the construction gives you just a hint of the sonic experience to come.

Technology

The heart of the Olympica G3 series is the white Camelia midrange driver. First seen in Sonus faber’s statement Suprema, this unique driver brings a new level of resolution and realism to the all-important midrange frequencies. It’s remarkable transparency is helped in part by its non-circular cone and surround membrane, which helps to break up unwanted resonances. In the Olympica V G3, the midrange and tweeter are housed in a sealed enclosure damped with a cork membrane. Natural and sustainable, cork plays a critical role in the natural character of the speaker’s midrange. Two paper cone woofers loaded with Sonus faber’s unique Stealthflex slot port system deliver bass with depth, precision, and impact.

How can you get the most out of the Sonus faber Olympica V G3?

  • Start by experimenting with placement. For best results, we recommend positioning this speaker such that there is at least 24-36” between the back of the speaker and the wall behind it.

  • A speaker is the final link in the chain of components that makes up a stereo system, and it can only perform as good as the amplifier that powers it (just as that amplifier can be only as good as the source that feeds it). We are more than happy to consult with you to ensure that these speakers will pair well with your system.

  • Remember that, while these speakers will sound great from the moment you start playing them, they will sound even better after they’ve been played for awhile and the drivers are broken in. We think this model will begin to sound its best after 100-150 hours of use.
