Technology

Where most speakers use a simple cylindrical port to augment bass depth, PMC takes a far more elaborate approach. Their Advanced Transmission Line technology delivers superior low-frequency depth and linearity, at all volume levels. With this design, behind the woofer is a long, highly damped tunnel. In the case of the prophecy7, this tunnel has an effective level of just over 6 feet. Absorbing unwanted mid- and high-frequency energy that radiates from the back of the driver, the transmission line allows only the lowest frequencies to exit the cabinet in phase with the forward movement of the woofer. The end result is shockingly deep - and defined - bass from such a compact speaker. ATL has another advantage: its construction allows for an inherently stiffer cabinet which means less unwanted resonances, especially in the critical midrange frequencies. Less unwanted vibrations means more of the good vibrations we want: music!

 

Creative Audio Pro Tips

  • The PMC prophecy7 will sound great right out of the box, but will sound even better after 200 hours of use.

  • For best results, experiment with positioning of the speakers relative to the wall behind them. In most case we would expect the best results with a distance of between 18 and 36 inches from the back of the speaker to the wall behind them.
