Technology

The PMC prodigy5 features a unique bass loading system called transmission line. Instead of the basic cylindrical port seen on most speakers, behind the woofer of the PMC prodigy5 is a long, highly damped tunnel. In the case of the prodigy5, this tunnel is over 6 feet long and it absorbs the unwanted mid- and high-frequency energy that radiates from the back of the driver, letting only the lowest frequencies exit the cabinet in phase with the forward movement of the woofer. Not only does the transmission line offer superior low-bass performance, but it also reduces distortion in the main driver and enhances cabinet rigidity to further enhance midrange detail.

 

Creative Audio Pro Tips

  • The PMC prodigy5 will sound great right out of the box, but will sound even better after 100 hours of use.

  • For best results, experiment with positioning of the speakers relative to the wall behind them. In most case we would expect the best results with a distance of between 12 and 24 inches from the back of the speaker to the wall behind them.
