Music Everywhere
With the Naim ND5 XS 2 you can stream hi-res music from a multitude of sources, with direct support for TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, internet radio, and Roon. There is also support for AirPlay, Chromecast, and aptX HD Bluetooth. You can also access your own local library of music via UPnP or the built-in USB input. Lastly, the ND5 XS 2 is also a DAC and includes multiple coaxial and optical digital inputs.

Demo track: ‘Love is Blindness’ by Cassandra Wilson. Today, far too many people rely on their phone and Bluetooth for their digital source and we just don’t get it. Every component in your audio system plays a crucial role in its sound quality. Just as your speakers can only sound as good as the amplifier that powers them, so too your amplifier can only perform to the level of the source feeding it. Naim Audio’s ND5 XS 2 is an absolutely stunning source. It’s not inexpensive, to be sure but as many times as we’ve seen our clients’ jaws hit the floor when they hear the price we’ve also had to pick them up again when they hear the sound. If you’re just using Bluetooth or a cheap streamer as your digital audio source, you’re missing out on so much. On the Cassandra Wilson track we are blown away by insane levels of detail, particularly in the texture of her alluring voice as well as the instruments. What really comes across though is the space of the recording; this is very fine detail and when you hear it suddenly you can place everything precisely and its as if you were getting a live performance in your listening room. This is just one of countless moments with the ND5 XS 2 where the hairs on the back of your neck will stand up, and you’ll kick yourself for missing out on so much of your music for so long.
Sound Advice
The Naim Audio ND5 XS 2 will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after 75-100 hours of break-in.
While you can connect to your network with the built-in WiFi, we always recommend a wired ethernet connection whenever possible.
