Planar Magnetostatic Hybrid Tweeter

Typically only seen on more expensive models, the Sonik 7 and Sonik 9 feature DALI’s unique Hybrid Tweeter which consists of a planar magnetostatic tweeter combined with the soft dome tweeter. This design combines the best of the ultra-high resolution planar tweeter with the wide dispersion of the dome. The crossover has been customised to allow each of these components to operate within their optimum frequency ranges for the ultimate in high-frequency expression at the price point.

Ultra-lightweight tweeter

The Sonik series features a new DALI tweeter design. With a dome made from a woven fabric, this material weighs less than half of most other soft domes on the market today. It’s ultra-lightweight design means it can move fast, resolving the finest high frequency details. This material also allows DALI to make the dome larger than most tweeters which allows it to offer wide dispersion and greater accuracy in its lower frequency range, allowing for a seamless handover to the main drivers.

Clarity Cone drivers

The ideal midrange and bass driver cone material is stiff, lightweight, and self-damping. DALI has long pioneered the use of fine grain paper pulp cones reinforced with wood fibres. In the Sonik series DALI enhances this material with their Clarity Cone profile, allowing them to not only reproduce frequencies without colouration but also capturing every dynamic detail - from those near-silent moments to high-impact bursts of musical energy. Integral to the performance of DALI’s main drivers is their patented SMC (soft magnetic compound) magnet structures which significantly reduce distortion caused by hysteresis and eddy currents in the driver’s motor assembly.
