...an artful balance of muscle and enthusiasm that’s hard to dislike. If you have a large listening room and like it loud, but still value the subtleties, these Oberon 9 are well worth a listen.

The Creative Audio Review

Bigger isn’t always better. Especially on the more affordable side of speaker design, it can be very difficult to strike a balance between power and delicacy. The biggest issue is often the cabinet, which must necessarily be large to hold multiple large drivers. A large cabinet is more difficult to dampen and excess vibrations can destroy midrange and upper detail, leading to a dull and lifeless sound. Fortunately in the Oberon 9 DALI has managed to escape most of these pitfalls. This speaker is just as engaging and fun to listen to as its smaller Oberon siblings. There is one caveat, however: these speakers work best in a large room and with ample space behind and around them to let them breathe. Give them the room they need and they will sing loud and gloriously!

Sound Advice

  • The DALI Oberon 9 speakers will sound great from the moment you start playing them, but they will sound even better after 50+ hours of use, when the drivers have been broken in.

  • A larger speaker such as the DALI Oberon 9 will appreciate a healthy distance from the back wall in order to provide the most accurate bass response. We’d recommend no less than 18-24” for best performance.

  • A good quality speaker wire with banana plug connectors will give the DALI Oberon 9 the opportunity to sound its best.

DALI Oberon 9 Technical Specifications

We provide this information from the manufacturer for those who want to know or who find it interesting. In our opinion, however, you shouldn’t pay too much heed to technical specs. How a component reacts to test tones in a lab bears little relation to how it will sound at home playing music, a far more complex and nuanced signal than any test tone. Knowledge is power and the best knowledge is not how a component ‘sounds’ to a computer, but how it sounds to you.
