The Creative Audio Review

If you love the smaller Oberon 1 but have a larger space to fill or you just want some added bass depth, enter the DALI Oberon 3. With its larger bass driver the Oberon 3 definitely digs deeper and offers a greater sense of scale. More complex music is reproduced with greater ease, especially if you turn the volume up. It is true that the Oberon 3 loses a bit of the speed and sense of fun of its smaller sibling, but there’s still lots to love here. We’d describe the Oberon 3 as more mature, compared to the more youthful and energetic Oberon 1. Both deliver excellent insight into the music, no matter the genre, and should definitely be on your shortlist given that they are two of the best budget bookshelf models around.

Sound Advice

  • The DALI Oberon 3 speakers will sound great from the moment you start playing them, but they will sound even better after 50+ hours of use, when the drivers have been broken in.

  • We recommend a minimum of 12” distance from the back wall to the back of the DALI Oberon 3 to avoid excessive bass boom.

  • A good quality speaker wire with banana plug connectors will give the DALI Oberon 3 the opportunity to sound its best.

DALI Oberon 3 Technical Specifications

We provide this information from the manufacturer for those who want to know or who find it interesting. In our opinion, however, you shouldn’t pay too much heed to technical specs. How a component reacts to test tones in a lab bears little relation to how it will sound at home playing music, a far more complex and nuanced signal than any test tone. Knowledge is power and the best knowledge is not how a component ‘sounds’ to a computer, but how it sounds to you.
